GOD LOVES YOU!
Nature and revelation alike testify of God's love. God in heaven, provides for us all, like a strong and good father. He is the source of life, of wisdom, and of joy. Look at the wonderful and beautiful things of nature. Think of the marvelous way nature provides for the needs and happiness, not only of humans, but of all living creatures. The sunshine and the rain, that gladden and refresh the earth, the hills and seas and garden, all speak to us of the Creator's love. It is God who supplies the daily needs of all His creatures.
Six thousand years ago, God made the first humans, Adam and Eve, perfectly holy and happy. The beautiful earth, as it came from the Creator's hand, had not a hint of death or a shadow of evil. It is the breaking of God's law—the law of love—that has brought sadness and death. However even amid the suffering that results from sin, God's love is revealed. The world, though fallen, is not all sorrow and misery. In nature itself are messages of hope and comfort. There are flowers upon the thistles, and the thorns are covered with roses.
"God is love" is written upon every opening bud, upon every twig of springing grass. The lovely birds making the air musical with their happy songs, the delicately tinted flowers in their perfection perfuming the air, the lofty trees of the forest with their rich foliage of living green all testify to the tender, fatherly care of our God and to His desire to make His children happy.
In the Bible God reveals His character. He Himself has declared His infinite love and pity. When Moses prayed, "Show me Thy glory," The Lord passed before Moses, and proclaimed, "The Lord, The Lord God, merciful and gracious, long-suffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin." Through reading all the writings of the prophets we see an ever expanding picture of God’s character of love.
Though all these evidences have been given, the enemy of good, Satan, blinded the minds of men, so that they looked upon God with fear; they thought of Him as severe and unforgiving. Satan led men to imagine God as a being whose chief attribute is stern justice,--one who is a severe judge, a harsh, exacting creditor. He pictured the Creator as a being who is watching with jealous eye to discern the errors and mistakes of men, that He may visit judgments upon them. It was to remove this dark lie, that Jesus came to live among men. Satan was slandering God and misrepresenting his true nature. Thus God sent a Messiah to show the world God's true nature of love.
In describing His earthly mission, Jesus said, The Lord "has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised." This was His life work.
Jesus the Messiah, went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed by Satan. There were whole villages where there was not a moan of sickness in any house, for He had passed through them and healed all their sick. His work gave evidence of His divine anointing. Love, mercy, and compassion were revealed in every act of His life; His heart went out in tender sympathy to the children of men. Though he had been sent from heaven, he took man's nature, that He might reach man's greatest needs.
Jesus spoke the truth. He did not hide the truth, or say anything just to flatter others. He spoke in love, and he spoke only what God in heaven had him speak. He exercised the greatest tact and thoughtful, kind attention in His interaction with the people. He was never rude, never needlessly spoke a severe word, never gave needless pain to a sensitive soul. He did not censure human weakness. He spoke the truth, but always in love. He denounced hypocrisy, unbelief, and iniquity; but tears were in His voice as He uttered His rebukes that cut to the hearts of wicked men.
Just before Jesus’ death, he wept over Jerusalem, the city He loved. He wept because they refused to receive God’s gift of mercy. Jesus boldly declared, “I am the way, the truth, and the life no man comes to God but through me.” And the Jewish leaders rejected Him. Nonetheless, Jesus treated all with pitying tenderness. He was the one of a kind Messiah, anointed by God.
The Messiah’s mission was to save the world from sin. The Jews rejected him, but what about the African, the European, the Chinaman, the Turk? What would they and every other nation of men do with his message? He is a treasure for those who would find it, a path of joy, a key to heaven, freedom from religious dogma, a new way to live, escape from meaningless religious ritual and sacrifice. Yes, Jesus brought heaven and earth very close. Jesus’ life was one of self-denial and thoughtful care for others. Every soul was precious in His eyes. How He wanted to tell every nation of the world that they are precious in God's eye's. Jesus taught the secret of joy.
While He ever bore Himself with dignity, He bowed, like a servant would, with the tenderest regard to every member of the human race. The story is even told of him washing his disciples' feet. In all people, rich or poor and diseased, yes in all classes of people, he saw fallen souls whom it was his mission to save. Such is the character of Messiah as revealed in his life. Without flaw or exception, Jesus life teaches us the character of God in heaven. Jesus life of healing and helping is a window from which you may look and see God’s intentions toward you. Jesus, the tender, compassionate Word of God, was how God showed his right hand to the world.
It was to redeem us that Jesus lived and suffered and died. He became "a Man of Sorrows," that we might be made partakers of everlasting joy. God permitted His beloved Messiah, full of grace and truth, to come to a world marred and diseased with sin, darkened with the shadow of death and the curse. He permitted Jesus to leave the bosom of His love, and the adoration of the angels, to suffer shame, insult, humiliation, hatred, and death. The punishment for our wickedness was upon Him; He took our punishment to give us His peace and with the torture He received we are healed.
Behold Him upon the cross! The spotless one, as God's own sacrifice. John the Baptist upon seeing Jesus called out, “Look, the Lamb of God!” Controversially Jesus was called by prophets, "The Son of God." But the controversy vanishes when we realize the title has nothing to do with him being God's offspring, but a title which God himself announced! God’s child? Absolutely not! God communicated to the world, that the Messiah had the kind heart of God. When Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist, the voice of God came thundering from heaven to honor Jesus, saying, "This is my Son in whom I am well pleased." Yes, Jesus, more clearly than any other prophet, different than any prophet, revealed God. And God was pleased with him, so pleased He gave him a title. So pleased that three days after his death, Jesus raised to life! Jesus ascended to heaven and has told us by His own words that He is coming to earth again. Signs of the end tell us His appearing is near.
What value you have to God! Through defilement and sin the sons of Adam (all of us) became the play things of Satan. Like slaves we were bound to an earth destined for destruction. Through faith in the atoning sacrifice of the “Lamb of God” the sons of Adam may enter into God's own loving home. Jesus was and is the link that God used to connect man with his love, if we will only believe on him. Such love is without a parallel. We become children of the heavenly King! What a precious promise! What an immense reality. Believe, confess the truth and discover a new connection with God through His Messiah - Jesus.
